Notes || Closet Update

Hey there puddings~

It's been a while since I've done a closet update, hasn't it? To be honest, since winter has come, I just really haven't been going out as much, so updating every month seemed a little pointless. I think from now on I'm going to stagger my updates to quarter yearly. That way there'll be more to see and we can avoid times where the post might just consist of a pair of socks or something. If one particular month happens to be bountiful, like the January haul at the beginning of this year then I might post an early update but otherwise, every three months should do the trick. But anyway, let's get straight into it!

Enjoy Cocaine
If you've been with me on my humble little blog for a while now, you'll know I have a strange obsession with inappropriate parodies of big brands. I don't know why I find them so funny, but my collection is growing fast and I wish I felt bad about it but I just don't. As far as the actual piece of clothing goes, I only have one other red piece in my wardrobe, but even that is a more subtle red with more movement whereas this is definitely more striking. I can't wait for the weather to warm up a little so I can show this one off with a lot of bold blacks.

Broom Broom Shirt
My super duper awesome friend Kat bought this for me back when we had ramen together in the city. The material has lots of tiny little holes in it covered up with a super thin layer of material which makes it really breathable, but also I have to be careful with what I wear under it. I'm not sure what drew me to this shirt, it feels really childlike somehow, despite the vandalised car.

Egg Shirt
I bought this when I was in the city with Dani on my birthday weekend. It was the first thing I saw in Cheep and there was only one left, so I snatched it up as fast as I could. I love it so much, it's probably my favourite thing that I have in my closet right now. I love how it's slightly oversized and I think I'll be able to do a lot with it.

White Platforms
These were an early birthday gift from Dani and I am in love. I honestly never thought I would ever wear platform shoes or heels or anything that made me taller than I already am. All my life I've been so incredibly self conscious of my height. Back when I was a hysterical and overdramatic teenager I actually went a full year taking freezing cold showers, avoiding milk products, drinking black coffee and even denying myself the satisfaction of stretching in the morning all because the internet told me these things might give me a chance at becoming shorter. So taking all this into account, it took me by total surprise when I tried these on and absolutely loved them. I've worn them to every special occasion since then and I'm so happy that Dani made me try them. Freakishly tall or not, I fuckin rock these things.

Los Angeles Boy
This jumper is super comfy and snug. The inside is made of this fluffy velvety material which is immediately warm when you put it on. It's probably the warmest piece of clothing I own and has been an absolute life saver this winter.

Rilakkuma Onesie
Does this count? A while back I was invited to a onesie themed party. I could have worn my tiger onesie, but that has pudding stains on it, so I decided to order a new one just for the occasion. The tiger one was given to me by my partner a few years ago. Unfortunately, he has no clue about clothes and got me an extra large. I'm a tiny person, so the thing totally engulfs me. So this time, I ordered a medium. It fits perfectly, but a little too perfectly, I think. It's more like a pantsuit than a onesie, so I like to tie it around the waist and wear it like pyjama pants. Apart from the lack of snuggle room, it's really comfortable. It has a really velvety texture, I feel like I could just lie down and penguin slide everywhere.

Crop Mesh Shirt
I bought this at the same time as the egg shirt, so it kind of got lost in its shadow, but I still really like it. I think it will be really good for the transition between summer and spring because the crop part is actually really thick and will protect me from the breeze, but the mesh sleeves are going to let me breathe and stop things from getting too stuffy.

2 Cool 4 School
I found this little number when I didn't even intend on going out to buy anything. It's a little basic but I'm a complete sucker for jersey style shirts. I think it'll be good for those awkward weeks where we transition from winter to spring. The material is really thin and breathable so if I wear this and a jacket, I think I'll be set to counter those hot days with cold winds.

♡ ♡

So yeah, those were the new additions to my closet. I can't wait for winter to move on so I can show some of these pieces off. I have so many outfit ideas in my head, you don't even know. Have you puddings found any little gems lately? Let me know your favourite pieces, you know where to find me!

And that's it from my little closet of treasures until October, stay kawaii pudding cups~

Diary || Perth 2015 Harajuku Walk

Hey there pudding friends ^^

So back in May, the Harajuku group of Japan made a video to be posted online, letting the world know that they wanted as many countries as possible to gather everyone interested in Harajuku fashion into one big group and come together to march around their cities. Well, thanks to the wonderful organising skills of one particular member of my local lolita community, Australia was soon in the mix and on the 26th of July, we all gathered in the heart of Perth to participate in Perth's first ever Harajuku Fashion Walk.

When my partner and I arrived, there were a lot of people there already, and they just kept on coming. Everybody looked so cute, it made me really happy to be surrounded by the fashion I love. We waited around a bit until we had a larger group and after a few encouraging words from our organiser, Geri, we were off~

(I'm a camwhore leave me alone)

The walk was so much fun, there was a big sense of community walking in a big group like that, full of people who shared the same interests as you. The route went from the state library all the way to the other side of the city to end at the Stirling Gardens, with lots of twists and turns along the way to reach more people. We got a lot of positive reactions, and no abuse which I was surprised about. Our city isn't really one of the most accepting places in the world and I know a fair few people have been targeted for looking even the slightest bit alternative. But it all turned out really well. I think we really achieved what we had set out to do which was to promote this kind of fashion and raise awareness that this is a thing and we really are a bigger community than some people might think.

The walk ended in the Stirling Gardens where we took the group photos and then separated to do our own thing. There was also a group picnic, but I totally forgot the food I was going to bring, so I thought I'd just leave after chatting to a few people I didn't get a chance to talk to before. Unfortunately, because I didn't stay the whole time, I didn't end up in the video. A lot of the footage was shot after I had left which sucked, but that's just how the cookie crumbles sometimes. I still have a lot of photos that turned out really well though, so I'm not really bothered. I know I was there and it was a super good time, so that's all I really need. I'm really grateful to the adorable Miss Geri (who you can see in the middle in all her frilly glory) for taking the time to organise the whole thing and I'm so happy that I got to be a part of it.

(even more people came after this photo, it was crazy)

Was there a walk in your city? I'd love to hear about it~ And if you didn't go or if your state didn't organise one, I would really recommend it if this becomes an annual thing. There's a really good sense of community. I felt like such a loner before the walk, standing there, not really knowing anyone; but when we were all walking together, there was such a great atmosphere of acceptance and happiness, I think it's something everyone should get to experience.

Diary || The Rainbow After the Rain

Hello pudding cups~

After everyone finally decided to vacate my house almost 24 hours after my party last night and I finally got to do some cleaning and have a little time to myself, the weekend had a much more positive energy. Because of work, my friend Dani couldn't make it to my birthday party, so to make up for it she arranged to catch a ride up to my neck of the woods to spend the weekend with me. I didn't want Dani's boyfriend to have driven all this way just to drop her off and leave again, so I invited them out to have dinner with my partner, sister and I. It wasn't anything fancy, we just went to Nandos, but I thought it would be a nice little thing to do. And it was, turns out that night I took their Nandos virginity, so I'm pretty proud of that.

After dinner, Dani's boyfriend left to drive back to Bunbury and the rest of us went back to our place. Holy crap me and Dani talk a lot. When we got home we both felt like watching a movie and started idly talking during the beginning, but by the end of the conversation, we realised that the movie had already freaking finished. I don't even remember what we talked about but for some reason we just bounce off each other like rubber. Not a bad thing, but I feel like I have to go back and re-watch Mean Girls now. Time went by quickly and before I knew it, it was 1am. Seeing as we had plans for the next day, we decided we should at least get into bed. The rest of the night (or early morning) was spent talking about our theories on aliens and deep sea creatures, I think that was my favourite part, nobody has ever shared my interest in this kind of stuff before.

The next day we headed up to the city for a day of shopping. First stop of course was Cheep, I've finally found someone who's equally as obsessed with this place as I am! I haven't been there in a while, so there were a lot of new things which made me super happy. Although, one thing stood out among the rest. There was only one left, and I snatched it up the second I laid eyes on it. It was a super adorable egg shirt! I don't know what my obsession is with food themed clothing but I don't even care, this shirt is my life. I also bought another mesh crop top because I clearly don't have enough already.

The next stop was Lush. Dani is unhealthily obsessed with their stuff and never spends less than $50 in one visit. I, on the other hand, am a complete Lush virgin; but I've had a look at their stuff online and I was looking forward to seeing and smelling everything in real life. I guess my shopping addiction can't really be denied any further because although the Lush store was maybe a 3 minute walk away, it took us almost an hour to get there. There were too many stores on the way that we needed to look in! Even as we were about to walk into Lush, we noticed a new sushi place right across the hall that looked so adorable, we had to go check it out. Everything in there was super cheap and yummy looking, they even had a whole shelf of pocky and those ramune drinks. After deciding we would come back to this magical place for lunch, we finally got around to actually going into Lush.

There's so much stuff to look at in there, holy shit and everything smelled so good. I didn't want to leave without buying something, I needed at least one of those amazing scents to take home with me. I don't really take baths, so their famous bath bombs weren't really an option, but I found this adorable shower jelly. It's called Sweetie Pie and it smells like cherries and coconut and it's also really fun to play with in the shower. Turns out that one of Dani's friends works there, so we left with not only the stuff we bought, but a buttload of free samples. I got some shaving cream, a bar of soap, some facial scrub and something called 'rub rub rub'. I also got a honey shampoo which I used that night and oh my god, I need to go back and get me some more of that, it made my hair feel like actual silk.

After spending way too long in Lush, we went to a few of the mainstream clothing stores. As expected, I didn't really find any clothes that I liked among all the floral prints and lacy shorts, but I did find an adorable pastel backpack. I didn't buy it because I wanted to save my money for something better (food), but now that I'm home and reflecting, I think I might go back for it.

On our way to a more alternative clothing store, we happened to walk past a small Korean convenience store. I used to go to these all the time, but they never really had anything besides chocolate/strawberry pocky, the coffee you can get in a can and a bunch of obscure meats with Korean and Japanese writing that my uncultured white ass can't translate yet (although my Korean is getting a lot better). But we had a look in there anyway and I am so glad that we did. They have so much more stuff now! All the asian snacks I order online, they're all here! It was amazing. Unfortunately, they only accepted cash there, and I didn't have any on me. I wanted to go to get some and come back, but Dani said she couldn't wait and sixty dollars later, we left feeling very satisfied with ourselves.

We celebrated our little victory by going back to that cute little sushi place we found to have lunch. Usually a sushi sampler is enough for me, but their stuff looked so good, I got a squid salad as well as my tuna rolls. Despite being in the middle of the shops with people constantly walking past, it was a really good atmosphere in there. It was tucked away just enough that people didn't linger there and we could sit at the window and watch the world go by.

After lunch, I went and got some cash out. Yes, Dani was willing to share her stash, but I wanted to buy some things for myself as well. I have a much more modest budget than her, but I still managed to get some of my favourites.

By this point, we had a lot to carry and evening was starting to show, so we thought we better wrap it up soon. Dani needed to be back in Bunbury at a decent hour and my arms were starting to hurt. The last stop was for bubble tea, where I fuelled my green tea obsession with some matcha milk tea and Dani paid extra for basically a cup of pearls with a splash of milk. I never thought to ask for extra, definitely doing that next time.

After a long train ride back to Warnbro, my partner picked us up and drove us home. We dumped our bags all on the floor to show him everything we had bought.. he didn't look impressed with me, but I have green tea candy, so who's the real winner here?
A bit later on, Dani's boyfriend came to pick her up and take her home back to space and I reluctantly had to wind down from my big day out so I could cook everyone dinner.

This weekend turned out to be really nice and I feel really satisfied with everything. I have a new favourite lunch place in the city, I get to try all these cool Lush products, I have what I think might be my favourite shirt in the history of ever and best of all, I have candy! I'm really glad that I got to have this day to cheer me up and save my birthday weekend.

Diary || Happy Cake Day to Me

Hey there pudding cups~

Today I come to you as a fresh and new 19 year old me. Time really flies, I can remember going through such an emotional meltdown just 4 years ago when I was 15 and realised I would be halfway to 30 and now look at me, I'm almost 20 years old and a proper adult. There's no avoiding it next year, unfortunately. I mean, right now I'm legally an adult but there's still a lot I can get away with because I'm a teenager. But next year.. nope. That's it, I'm an adult. It's time to get married, have kids and get myself into some serious debt. Of course I'm kidding, I have a lot of friends in their 20's who you wouldn't even guess it, so I'm not that worried. I am a little freaked out though, because you know, it's a pretty big change. But I guess that's life, and who knows, maybe by the time my next birthday rolls around I'll be a more capable person.

Onto more positive things though, this morning I woke up to the sweet smell of freshly cooked waffles. I got out of bed to find that my partner had filled the hallway completely with balloons! I don't care how old I am, if you think I didn't run through that shit just to see them all fly up and bounce off the walls you are dead wrong.

I don't know if I've mentioned this, but for the last few months I have been obsessed with banana waffles/pancakes. They're so healthy and easy to make, I eat them for breakfast every day. This morning though, they were a little less healthy. My partner sat me at the table where there was a nice hot cup of green tea waiting for me and a bunch of heart shaped waffles covered in whipped cream and chopped up fruit. It was really yummy and I felt like a princess having my food waiting for me, just the way I like it.

After breakfast I got dressed and cleaned the house for the party I had planned for tonight. It didn't take long, so I didn't really mind having to clean on my birthday. After that was done, my partner, sister and I got in the car and went out to buy me the polaroid camera I've wanted for a very long time now. Unfortunately, the place we got it from didn't sell any film so until I can go shopping again, I'll have to survive on the 10 sheets that came with it. I was a bit disappointed at that, but then I had sushi for lunch so life was good again.

When we got home we got a few more things done for the party and then chilled out and watched Orange is the New Black. I'm so behind, season three has been out for ages so I thought it was time to finally finish season two. Because everything on the menu for tonight was party food and nothing of any nutritional value, we decided to head out for a bit of a snack at my favourite Japanese restaurant, Taku's Kitchen. We didn't want to fill up too much, so we all ordered an entree each and shared it family style. It was a nice time out and I feel lucky to be able to do things like this now that I'm older.

About five minutes after we came home, people started showing up and it wasn't long until everyone had arrived. As far as birthdays go, it was a little bit lame. I originally wanted to invite a whole bunch of people and have music blaring with lots of pizza and junk food, but then I thought.. there's not really that many people I know that I would want to have in my house at my birthday. I have a lot of 'friends', but I kind of wanted it to only be people that I know for sure like me and I like them. So it ended up being a pretty small group of people but you know what? It's my party and if having a small, intimate group of friends is my idea of a good time then that's what I'm going to do; today was supposed to be about me anyway. What I really appreciated though was that a few people took the time to learn a couple of kpop dances and got up and danced with me, that was pretty rad.

So yeah, that was my birthday. A bit quiet and not super eventful, but still a nice day. I've noticed that as I've been getting older, birthdays have lost their magic. Suddenly you don't want chocolate for breakfast, McDonalds for lunch and cake for dinner or to be surrounded by your entire extended family showering you in Kmart gift cards and the friends you mum invited for you. You just want to kick back and have a day to do you. It's not so much about having a day to celebrate your progress as a human being anymore, rather than having a day to forget the stresses that come with the progress you've made.

But no matter the spirit in which you celebrate your birthday, you still get cake, so it can't be that bad, right?
