The following weekend, we packed our bags and trekked it to the hotel. I had had a horrible week. I know it's not wise when on the internet to go into detail about what goes on in the workplace, so I'll just say that I had been thrown under the bus a little bit and leave it at that. Not only had work been freaking me out, but my friend had bailed on the holiday that we had been organising for almost a year now, which had really thrown a spanner in the works regarding my plans for this year. I was confused, stressed, and extremely unhappy - by the time it came to us leaving, I was so desperate to get away. I'm really happy that I took this weekend to get away from all the bullshit, I really needed it. I dare even say, I deserved it. I want all of you to remember how vital it is to take time out just to treat yourself. Hell, nobody else is going to do it.

Day 1 ♡
We started our holiday off with a yummy lunch at Iku Sushi. Then, we hit the shops. The first stop was Cheep, where I found an adorable pair of shoes. There was a sign saying that I had to ask the cashier to see the other sizes - normally at the sight of something like this, my socially anxious mind would take over and make me leave the store, but dammit, this was my weekend off and I'd be dammed if I let a little (lottle) anxiety stop me from enjoying myself. I walked away extremely happy with my adorable new shoes.
Bag drops are my favourite thing, I tell you. Words cannot express how satisfying it is to decide that your bags are too heavy, so you take a quick 5 minute detour to your hotel room, drop your bags, and head back out there. After our second drop, we found ourselves with a full shopping chair (exactly what you think it is - an armchair that we designated to hold all of our shopping) and a mini fridge stocked up with our favourite snacks.
(shopping chair is love)
Dinner was at Arirang, my favourite restaurant. I'm lucky to have a partner that isn't fussy about where we eat, so I can be free to be my fussy, spice loving self. Although I will admit, if we were celebrating 3 months together, as opposed to 3 years, I probably wouldn't have ordered the dish that left an orange, chilli residue around my mouth. Not very attractive. But hey, treat yourself.
After dinner, we took a walk around Northbridge. My favourite part of the night was visiting the arcade and playing games together. It was really fun to let loose and be a little childish. I won at Dance Dance, he won at Skeeball, and I think we both lost when it came to the stressful photobooth. The night ended with a drink at the bar on the first floor of our hotel.
(you have no idea how many years it has taken to get him to do this with me)
Day 2 ♡
We started the day with breakfast and Bobs Burgers. As much as I do enjoy going out and eating, sometimes it's nice to appreciate the smaller moments in life, like getting out of the shower to find your partner has made you some tasty honey porridge.
Today I let myself be treated with a trip to Mecca, and then later on, a shopping trip in Harbour Town. We played the day by ear and left Harbour Town when we got hungry. We walked to a bus stop a little further out of the way just to get a bus that would drop us off right outside of our hotel. It was worth the detour. Lunch was the sushi and katsu chicken that we had stored in our mini fridge the day before. I love that we were able to eat our lunch on opposite sides of the bed and silently watch tv. I love that we were both just so comfortable. After lunch, I had a nap while my partner watched an old rerun of one of our favourite shows.
We went for another small burst of shopping before dinner, where my partner bought me a Rilakkuma plush and I bought myself some more Too Faced. By the time evening rolled around, I was in the red regarding my bank account, but I couldn't have cared less. I refused to let myself stress during my happy time. We had a lovely dinner at Utopia before we went for a stroll through the city and then decided to call it a night. We took a shower together when we got back to our room. It was really nice. Nothing sexual happened, it was just a pure, innocent shower. I felt really safe and happy.
Final Day ♡
I'm a little sad to leave, but I made sure to not be sad while still technically on holiday. We had packed all our stuff last night, so all there was left to do was check the room. We took a little bit of time that we had before checkout to chill out and watch The Avengers. It was nice, I'm happy we did that.
We checked out with no problems, and wondered down the street to Gelare so we could enjoy some waffles and ice cream for breakfast. When will I learn that a large waffle is too much for me? Nevertheless, I enjoyed my breakfast. We talked about travelling and the little things we want to do with out lives.
(the face of 'oh god i'm only 1/4 through and i'm going to explode')
♡ ♡ ♡
Although it was short, I really enjoyed my time away. It was super refreshing to just get away from everything that had been causing me stress, turn off my phone, and just enjoy my life for once. I will definitely make sure to take time out for myself more often. It's important, after all.
