Notes || Closet Update

Greetings, fellow puddings~

It's time for this months closet update! I'm so happy with this months additions, I think when the weather starts warming up again, you puddings will definitely be seeing them on me. Unfortunately though, Winter is only just starting to peak his head around the corner, so it will probably be a while which sucks. Anyway, no reason why I can't show them off before I get the chance to wear them; so let's get started~

Parental Advisory and Badass Bitch Crops
I bought these two crop tops from Cheep after the Food Truck Rumble. The parental advisory crop isn't of the best quality, but the black crop.. oh my god. It fits like a dream and is so silky and shiny, it honestly pains me that it's not socially acceptable to wear the same shirt every day. Not to say the other crop isn't a great piece, it's just harder to match with an outfit whereas this one.. wow. It's probably my favourite piece of clothing I've bought this month.

Lace and Cannabis Crops
I bought both these pieces on the day I went to the vintage market, but I got the pink crop when I took Jade to Cheep. I really need to find another store to obsess over, but I can't help myself. Plus there's something about making fun of advertisements that makes me giggle. I haven't gotten the chance to wear either of these yet, and now that the weather is cooling down, I think it might be a while, but I can't wait. I'm really keen to see what kind of outfits I can create with the blue lace crop.

Gingham and Plaid Skirts
These were also from the Polka Dot markets. I'm a complete sucker for plaid and gingham prints, so when I saw these, I knew I had to take them home. I wore the plaid skirt to Uni and was a bit disappointed to find that it was much shorter than I had originally anticipated. But I was determined to wear it, so I threw on some leggings and rocked the 80's prostitute look~ I'll probably have to be careful when making an outfit with the pink one because I have a feeling that if I wear too much black, I might end up looking like Avril Lavigne back in 2003.

Tie Dye Skirt and Mesh Shirt
More loot from the polka dot markets~ I'm not going to lie; I didn't have an outfit planned when I bought these two items, I've just always wanted a mesh shirt (even if this one is stupidly a bit oversized) and I didn't actually realise the skirt was tie dyed until later on, I just saw pastel colours and went for it.

So that's this months closet update; I really love keeping track of everything like this, especially when it turns out I haven't spent as much money as I thought I had. Plus I like showing people new clothes, I kind of feel like a proud child like ~look what I've got~
I'm hoping that next months update will have items more suitable for the coming weather because it seems like all I've bought recently is various crop tops and I don't really get the chance to wear any of them because it's currently freezing. Maybe I'll make it a rule that I can't buy any more summer pieces until I invest in a new sweater.

Yeah, I like that.

Diary || A Day at the Polka Dot Vintage Markets

Hello pudding friends ^^

I woke up this morning excited for yet another event in little old Perth. I wasn't just eager for the event though, I just wanted to get out of the house. It's only really just clicked to me that April is almost over and I've only had one day out, which was at the beginning of the month, so I was determined to live today to its fullest. I had planned to go to Perths 'Polka Dot Vintage Markets'. It's basically exactly what it sounds like, a huge market dedicated to everything vintage from clothes to records to antiques to weird ass nick nacks. I invited my friend Jade to come with me. I haven't seen her since last year for her birthday and we were long overdue for a catch up. She's into vintage stuff, I'm into new clothes, I thought, let's do this~

We met each other at the underground station and after a bit of confusion (we both came from different train lines and didn't realise that we would be at different exits) we were on our way to the show grounds. Before we knew it, we had arrived and to be honest, it was everything I had hoped it would be. The pavilion was full of dozens of stalls, each with better and better things to offer. I wanted to have a good look at everything, but first thing was first. We made a beeline for the clothing section and had at it. There was such a big variety of clothes, we took at least a good hour to get through all the racks while losing each other several times in the process. There were a few expensive pieces that I had to pull myself away from and I had to remind myself that I was there for the deals, not my usual impulse buys. Once I had a bunch of new clothes on lock, it was time to check out the rest of the weird and wonderful stuff the market had to offer.

Once I felt like I'd seen everything, I gave Jade a quick message and we met each other outside to make our way back into the city. On the train ride back, I was busy online trying to find a Japanese restaurant that would be open on a public holiday. I had a craving for katsu chicken but no luck - or so it appeared.

After putting up with my sulking, Jade sarcastically pointed to a stall opposite the station saying 'What about that? That looks Asian!' I laughed, but decided to have a quick look anyway. It was a just a generic sushi stall but tucked away in the corner, to my delight, was a single bento box of katsu chicken! It wasn't even that expensive either, I was so happy. I snatched it up before anyone else could have the chance to rob me of my good luck and went with Jade to get her the greasy food she had been after. We decided to take our food to Central Park so we could sit on the grass and eat in peace. It was a beautiful day for it and we finally had a chance to catch up with each other. It was a really nice time.

After we felt more rested and our lunch was done, she insisted I showed her the Cheep store I had been telling her about. I decided to take her to both of them, less for the experience and more to have more clothes buying opportunities. Once we were done, we noticed that the sky was beginning to lighten and turn purple. Figuring it must be getting late, we decided to end the day there. We were both pretty satisfied with how everything turned out and promised to do it again soon.

Today turned out to be such a lovely day and I'm so happy to be able to end the month on this note. I got some hella good clothes that I can't wait to wear, some hella good food that I can't wait to eat again and was able to catch up with a hella good friend. I really hope I get to catch up with Jade again soon, we always leave it way too long because of the distance between us but today proved that we really should do stuff like this more often.

Especially if it involves new clothes~

Diary || Perth Food Truck Rumble

Hey there, pudding cups ^^

Just a few weeks ago, I happened to see an advertisement for what was called the Perth Food Truck Rumble. Basically, 30 different food trucks gather in the cultural centre of Perth to create an event filled with good food and good times. I had organised to go with a group of friends, but everyone seemed to bail at the last minute. I was worried because I didn't want to go to this thing alone, but luckily I got in contact with two friends I hadn't seen in a while and everything became back on track.

I think that maybe my primary friend group bailing was for the better, because the train ride up to the city gave us a chance to catch up and it was really refreshing to be around different people.

We walked together to the cultural centre and holy hell I was not disappointed. For a foodie like me, it was like a dream come true. Everywhere I turned, there were different kinds of food from different parts of the world just waiting for me to have at it. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest; I didn't know what to do first, especially since I knew there was no realistic way I could try everything. I tried to get a few photos of the place, but there were way too many people, so I gave up and decided just to get right down to business.

The first stop we made was a Mexican truck where my friend Connor got himself a burrito (what a basic). While he was waiting, I decided to wander off and find a truck I had seen on the event page: The Wicked Chilli. I'm a big chilli lover, so I got myself a helping of Chilli Con Carne with corn chips, jalapeños and salsa. Being so excited about having chilli made me forget a primary ingredient of this dish is beans and tomato, which I absolutely hate. So even though the food was amazing, I spent too much time picking around the pieces I didn't want. Aside from that, 10/10 chilli and I think this might inspire me to go to Mexican restaurants more often rather than the Asian places I usually frequent.

(spontaneous hat swap while waiting for food)

My friend Callum had stupidly eaten a big breakfast before coming to Perth, so before rushing to try anything else, we had a look around to scope out the best and most interesting foods. Before long, we came across a cute little ice cream truck that was too adorable and interesting to ignore. It had the strangest combinations of ice cream I had ever seen, and working at Baskin Robbins, I can tell you I've seen a lot.

For round two, Callum bought us some chicken wings for us to share from Saigon Soul Food. They are by far the weirdest wings I have ever had the pleasure of trying. Callum convinced me to take a whiff and it felt like I was actually snorting crystallised chilli powder, I could feel it in my head. Strange smell aside, they tasted amazing; cooked to perfection, and a decent amount of meat on the bones, too! Very plump and juicy, the line up was really worth the wait.

After the wings, we ventured back to the strange ice cream truck. I decided to go for the green tea and rose chocolate ice cream. The weird combination had me uncertain, but the first bite was amazing! It tasted like a perfect cup of tea made in a vintage tea pot. I could clearly taste each element of the ice cream and I feel the need to find this flavour again some day; if any of you puddings come across Chicho Gelato, I highly recommend you give them a chance.

We walked around with our ice cream for a bit and decided to go check out the break dancing competition that was apparently going on, but there were so many people there, we couldn't really see much. But there were hot donuts so I guess it wasn't all bad~

We'd pretty much seen everything after that, but there was still one last truck that I couldn't leave without visiting: Miam Miam a Bite of France. Ever since my first crepe that I tried on Valentines Day, I've been waiting till the day I could have another. This line was probably the slowest one we'd been in all day, but it was worth it. I got a cinnamon and sugar crepe with banana and fluffy whipped cream. We went and sat down on a little wooden platform in the middle of a pond and decided what we were going to do with the rest of our day while I ate my crepe. It was really nice~

After that, we felt like we'd gotten all we could out of the Rumble, our tummies were full and we'd seen everything we'd come to see. I would have liked to take a few more photos, but it was only getting more and more crowded, so we decided to head into the city and do some shopping. Although it wasn't the kind of shopping I'm used to. Majority rules and unfortunately the majority in our little group was two guys who are simultaneously into nerd culture and stereotypically manly stuff, neither of which interest me.

The food at the Rumble had turned out to be surprisingly cheap, so I had some money left over and my need for new clothes was on that like the speed of light squared on matter to make energy (hella). After what felt like forever, I finally convinced the guys to go clothes shopping with me. I hadn't complained once during their quest for new gaming cards and beef jerky, so I felt like I deserved at least 30 minutes of their time. After a couple of complaints about everything looking the same, they stopped complaining and even started trying to help me find what I was after. That was cute. Did you puddings know there are two Cheep stores in the city? Maybe more, I don't know. All I know is I found another one tucked away in the Plaza and it had all new stuff which almost gave me a heart attack.

It soon began to get dangerously close to 3 o'clock, which meant I had to leave to be able to get to work on time, so we decided to call it a day there. Everything turned out well and I'm so happy that the guys were able to come with me, it was a really nice day and I don't think it would have been this nice if it weren't for the refreshing change of company. I hope the Rumble comes back next year so I can try the things I missed out on this time around and maybe even have a bigger group so we can all try more food than we could alone because sharing is caring.

And caring is also letting me fuel my shopping addiction afterwards ~ ♡
