Eclectic Matter Warehouse Party
It's been a crazy couple of weeks lately. Uni work is piling up, life is happening, sometimes it's nice to take a break and treat yourself a little bit. I've come into a small amount of money recently, and it just so happened that this weekend, there was going to be a huge warehouse party where different indie brands from my area would be selling their clothes for really cheap. I haven't been able to spend as much time with my sister as I would like to lately, so we decided to take this Saturday off and spend some quality time together and grab some new threads.
We knew with the current vintage obsessed hipster crowd that's taken over our city, this event would be packed, so we wanted to arrive basically as soon as the doors opened. We got to the warehouse literally 15 minutes after it had opened and it was a full house! It was crazy, we actually had to line up to be able to move around the warehouse. I must admit though, it was worth it. Once I got to the first rack, I spotted an amazing vintage dress that was only $5, I couldn't believe it. It looked to be exactly my size too - so despite having to hold onto it for a crazy amount of time before I could make my way over to pay for it, I was really happy.
It took us a solid 2 hours to make our way through the entire warehouse, but my sister and I both manage to land some pretty sick deals. The store for Cheep was on a vintage school bus, which would have been cool in any other situation where people weren't packed together like livestock. But all in all, it was pretty fun.
Once we were happy with what we had, we made our way out of the warehouse. We had to catch a bus that took us about 10 minutes out of the city to get to the event, so we were a bit disoriented. We took a look at a map and realised we weren't that far from Northbridge. My sister suggested that it'd be faster if we just walked.
The walk was nice, we saw some colourful houses, walked through a park, and even low key witnessed a crime scene, so that was cool.
We had lunch at a small asian food court and ducked into the art museum on our way back to the train station. The art museum in Northbridge is totally whack, and always has displays that are slightly unsettling. There was one room that was so creepy that my sister and I hung around the entrance and waited for someone else to go in first so we would feel a bit more safe.
Our favourite exhibits were one where there was a shelf of every day objects with hair and teeth attached to them, and also the neon shrine where we pretended to be alien princesses.
I'm really glad I took the day off to spend some time with my sister, we definitely have some cool stories to tell from it and even better, we got some sick new threads~
